Another collaboration between Enoki, Phil Harris from Troppo Architects, and a wonderful client, has resulted in a marriage of periods. A dark Victorian house has been transformed into a light, outward facing home with spaces that invite you inward while allowing the outside in. The extension is constructed out of glass and timber allowing views to the garden and pond from all angles. The interior spaces have been wrapped in different timber species. A clean yet earthy tone is evident in the ecoply kitchen. The use of spotted gum in the bathroom set against an existing raw, red brick wall, creates a rugged, holiday mood. The study and living room set off from the kitchen area allow for a connection of all spaces which is further enhanced with the custom built joinery throughout the house. The existing house has also undergone minor renovations. These have made a big impact to the overall connection of the old and new and to the success of the project.
