The current household bin system can be confusing and there is a general lack of knowledge about the whole waste management process in Australia. Bin Shift shifts awareness about waste disposal habits and processes making us more mindful of where we put our rubbish. This, in turn, increases recycling and reuse and reduces landfill. Helping to deliver this message is environmentally friendly Bin Genies. Bin Genies are the 'green' guardians of each kind of rubbish. For example, the Landfill Bin Genie wants to be empty because putting our rubbish in landfill is bad for the environment. The Bin Shift bins follow the familiar colour conventions of existing bins, allowing them to fit perfectly within the current over-arching waste disposal system. A set of symbols simplifies the process of bin selection at a glance. These bins are intentionally educational and have been strongly supported by schools.
